Grid Interconnection, Transformers and Load Management

CHG 110 introduces technicians to the critical components and principles governing the interconnection of facilities to the electrical grid, with a specific focus on 480-volt service applications. The curriculum delves into various transformer types, their applications, and safe operating procedures, emphasizing proper sizing and maintenance. A core component of the course covers advanced load management techniques, including strategies for reducing peak demand, understanding utility rate structures, and mitigating demand charges. Through theoretical instruction and practical exercises, students will develop the ability to analyze electrical loads, implement energy-saving solutions, and ensure reliable and efficient power distribution within industrial and commercial settings.
